Former General Motors executive Kathleen Barclay will join Kroger Co. as senior vice president, human resources, the company said Wednesday.
Barclay will be in charge of human resources for Kroger’s more than 326,000 employees across all its business units, according to a news release. She will join the company in January.
“Our associates are the key to our success,” said David Dillon, chairman and CEO, in the release. “Ms. Barclay will help us position Kroger as a leading employer and accelerate associate engagement in our company’s Customer 1st business strategy.”
Barclay served as head of global human resources at GM for 10 years, and has almost 30 years of experience in the HR field. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, and a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Kroger (NYSE: KR), headquartered in Cincinnati, operates more than 2,400 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states.
