Robert Brockman Takes Over HR at Rent-A-Center

PLANO, Texas - (Business Wire) Rent-A-Center, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:RCII), the nation’s largest rent-to-own operator, today announced the appointment of Robert Brockman to senior vice president of human resources. Reporting to Mitch Fadel, president and chief operating officer, Brockman succeeds Mel McCall, who retired in December. Brockman’s duties will include oversight of traditional human-resources responsibilities such as store and home-office staffing, training and development, compensation, benefits and payroll. He’ll also serve as a member of the corporate strategic team. Brockman is uniquely qualified for the post, having served from the mid-80’s to the mid-90’s as vice president of human resources for THORN Americas, Inc., Rent-A-Center’s then owner. Recently, Brockman was executive vice president of administration for Cash America, a position he accepted upon leaving THORN America’s Inc. in 1995. Early in his career, Brockman held senior management positions with Burger King and PepsiCo/Taco Bell. “Robert brings vast HR and rent-to-own experience to an important position,” said Fadel. “We’re delighted to have him on board.” A native of Wichita Falls, Texas, Brockman earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Texas A&M University.
