The New York Times Company announced the appointment of Todd C. McCarty on Monday as senior vice president for human resources.
He will be responsible for all human resources functions of the company, including compensation and benefits, diversity programs, performance management, staff development and succession planning. The appointment is effective Dec. 31. Mr. McCarty will report to Janet L. Robinson, the company’s president and chief executive.
Mr. McCarty, 43, served most recently as senior vice president for global human resources at the Reader’s Digest Association, which he joined in 2008. From 2005 to 2008, he was senior vice president for human resources at the Rite Aid Corporation.
From 2000 to 2005, he served as senior vice president for North American human resources at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, and from 1992 to 2000 he held various positions with the Frito-Lay Company, a division of PepsiCo. Mr. McCarty started his career with the Quaker Oats Company in 1989. He is also a director of the Bon-Ton Stores.
